Pramod Nirwan, an extremely loved singer in Nepal was born on April 14 in Balaju. Pramod is one of those singers who gave super hit since the first song he ever released. His first song was ‘Kasto Mod Ma’ and was loved extremely by the audiences. Not only music and singing but also the lyrics had a powerful impact on the audience. The new turn brought new energy into Nepali pop music.
He is now a music trainer and has his own music institute in Chabahil. Nirwan coaches and teaches music to today’s music enthusiasts. Nirwan is still active performing on stages and the nostalgia of his music still hits the heart of audiences. He also stays updates on his YouTube channel.

Pramod Nirwan was introduced to music through Sunil Bardewa, who was Nirwan’s cousin. Nirwan’s uncle and his family were from a musical background. Everybody there loved music and Nirwan’s cousin Bardewa taught him how to play guitar at a really young age. Bardewa also taught Nirwan how to sing.
When Nirwan was in school, he used to write poems. Because of his habit of writing poems, he also learned how to write lyrics for his songs. He was a really good student and was the teachers’ favorite.
Nirwan N’ Music Link was the first band of Pramod Nirwan that included members from his school. They were really young and wanted to make rock music. They were inspired by bands like Guns N’ Roses and The Doors. But as per their observation in Nepal, the audiences were more into melody. So, they made music that was suitable for the taste of Nepali audiences.
At a young age, the boys felt like their musical dreams were coming true. They did not know if their creation would be successful or not but they were excited. For their first recording, they did have a bit of issue financially but Nirwan’s cousin Suraj Bardewa – sibling of Sunil Bardewa – helped him. For the second recording, they got discounts.
Sunil Bardewa was the one who encouraged Nirwan to go and pursue his musical dream. He helped Nirwan to understand music and helped in Nirwan’s first song ‘Kasto Mod Ma’.
At first, Nirwan thought that the most important aspect of music is the composition of musical instruments. But as the journey continued, he learned that it is not just the musical instrument but also the lyrics and the song.
The recording for their first album was in 2057 B.S. But on 2060 B.S., they released their first album. For the album preparation, Nirwan and his band got help from one of the most popular singers in that era, Anil Singh. They were childhood friends and Singh also introduced him to Raman Singh Shrestha who is also a well-known singer of Nepal.
Raman, before releasing the album, would present the song to other top artists such as Karna Das and Nima Rumba. Nirwan and Raman still used to catch up time and again. One day, Nirwan also met those top artists and Raman played his song in front of everyone. Nirwan was pretty nervous at first but was surprised to see the responses of the artists. They praised him and said that they love his music. He was so shocked and proud of himself.
The time when Nirwan realised that he was a superhit singer was when he performed at a concert. There was a concert in Basantapur where many different singers were performing live in front of all the audiences. Nirwan was a newcomer in the music industry after his album was released. While he was performing ‘Jaba Tara Ganera’ and ‘Kina Esari’, the audiences sang along. They knew every word to the song and Nirwan knew that he was loved.
Nirwan and his band gave a lot of hit songs starting from their first song ‘Kasto Mod Ma’. The first album was also a big hit.
After the first album, Nirwan N’ Music Link disappeared for a really long time. Nirwan and the band did not quit music but they left the audiences wondering about their next release. It took then five years to come back with the second album. The problem was that the management was having issues. The music companies were extremely busy that the singers would have to stay in a queue. The management team was also changing, so they had to wait for a really long time.
Besides the music company issues, there was also pressure among the band. Because their first album was a super hit, they wanted their second album to be on a higher level.
During the five years gap, Nirwan composed a lot of songs and also wrote them. He used to present the song to his friends and brothers. They recorded their songs during those times. After the release of the second album, the music taste had changed and the rap era had begun. There were mostly remakes of older songs.
Pramod Nirwan was born and raised in Kathmandu. Raised inside a musical environment, he learned about music since he was really young. He is now married and has a son.
Nirwan grew his musical knowledge with the help of his cousin Sunil Bardewa. Starting from a really young age, he still continues his musical journey and also shares knowledge about it in his music institute located in Chabahil.
Despite teaching music, he still performs on stage and the ambiance is still the same among the audiences. Now, he is going solo from Pramod Production. The band members are not together physically but still support Pramod and still encourages him. Pramod is still working on more releases and updates on his YouTube channel.
