Shrestha enjoyed and loved music from a really young age. He has two friends who used to love music too and could play the guitar. Slowly, he got to know more people who belonged in the music industry. It was the year 1991 that together as a group, they decided to record a song. Each member contributed NRs. 500 and it took them 32 days to finally finish it.
It was the song “Maya Meri Maya”. After finishing the recording, the band listened to the song and felt like they could sing like The Eagles, The Beatles, and Scorpions. He was so happy that he and the band wanted to know what it would be like to have an entire album.
Shrestha then decided to sell his company and focus on his musical journey. It was not that Shrestha was not doing bad in the business but he got more invitations from the music sector. The superhit “Maya Meri Maya” was created in 1991, but the band Crossroads became official in 1992.
Crossroads gave many other hits. A few of the favorites of Shrestha besides “Maya Meri Maya” are “Euta Gaun Thiyo” and “Meri Aama”.
He has also performed live in Radio Nepal and had to practice for 20 days before going. Those days did not have mechanics to help them with voice and tune. He sang three songs in Radio Nepal live. Before singing for Radio Nepal, he failed the voice test but gave it another shot.
Those days music was sold in cassettes. And to avoid piracy, they used to sign and stamp each cassette and give it to the dealers.
